This project involved the demolition of the existing structure and the construction of a new dwelling-house at North Gate Street, Athenry, Co. Galway. As the proposed development was beside St Mary's parish church and within the zone of archaeological potential, the monitoring of foundations was necessary.
The work took place on 23 January 1999. The monitoring revealed no features of archaeological significance. The stratigraphy encountered consisted of 19th/20th-century dump material beneath the concrete surface.
