The proposed development is c. 400m south of the Athenry town wall, close to the 'Spital Gate' entrance. In the front garden of the house to be developed are the remains of St Bridget's Church, which is likely to be medieval in date. The development consisted of the demolition of the porch to the east of the house and the construction of a new extension at this location. In accordance with planning conditions, it was recommended that the excavation of foundation trenches be monitored. No structural remains or features of archaeological significance were evident during monitoring.
