The site, which is adjacent to SMR 259:1 (Excavations 1998, 72), was on a limestone plateau on the north-western slopes of Molly Mountain, at an altitude of c. 180m. The remains of a low circular kerb, 10.75m in diameter, and a cairn were discovered close to two standing stones, 2m and 0.9m high. Structural evidence within the kerb was scant, making classification difficult; however, there was a possible disturbed chamber/passage against the inner south-south-west edge of the kerb. A hut site was found c. 10m north-east of the kerb.
Five concentrations of burnt bone fragments were uncovered, with the two main concentrations occurring within the kerb. These were very disturbed and were associated with pot fragments.
Finds from topsoil include a barbed and tanged arrowhead and a hollow scraper.
Post-excavation work is ongoing. Photographs, plans and descriptions of finds and features are available on-line at: http://www.jchanning.com/.
