The area proposed for redevelopment measured 5.6m x 8m. Ground reduction for foundation trenches to a depth of 3.8m from present street level was monitored.
Wellington Quay extends along the south bank of the Liffey from Crampton Quay at Asdill's Row to Grattan Bridge. In 1621 a quay was built downstream of Grattan Bridge to facilitate the new custom premises.
There was no evidence for significant archaeological features. Reclamation material revealed some 19th-century pottery sherds and clay pipe fragments.
