Two test-trenches were opened by hand to the rear of the basement of the existing building. The development involves the change of use of a List 2 building from commercial to residential. The basement slab may be replaced but will not be lowered.
There was no evidence for any archaeological features or soils. The existing concrete floor appears to have been laid directly on yellow natural, 0.5m of which was excavated out to determine precisely the nature of the boulder clay. There were no finds.
