The construction of the Mourne Conduit Replacement, Aquarius Pipeline, necessitated archaeological attendance to monitor the removal of topsoil. Work commenced in April 1999 and is ongoing. Several sites were identified during 1999, and, while engineering solutions allowed for most of the sites to be preserved in situ, it was necessary to excavate at one location during 1999 (see No. 149 Excavations 1999).
