Test-trenches were excavated in the footprint of the foundations of a single house and septic tank to comply with a planning condition. The house site is to the immediate south of a ringfort. There is a local tradition of the interior of the ringfort being used as a burial-ground.
Trench 1 measured 13.5m north-west/south-east by 2m, and Trench 2 measured 10m north-south by 2m. The topsoil overlay a red/brown, sandy loam. No archaeological stratigraphy was recorded nor were artefacts recovered from the test-trenches.
