Planning permission was granted to build a dwelling-house on a site c. 30m to the west of a ringfort. The fosse survived to a depth of 0.25m to the south and west but had been backfilled to the north. Access to the house was to be by a roadway running to the north of the ringfort outside the backfilled fosse on this side.
Four test-trenches were opened in January 1999 along the line of the proposed road. No evidence for the fosse or other archaeological finds or features were noted.
