Several substantial archaeological sites were uncovered during monitoring of the N18/N19 Road Scheme, Ballycasey to Dromoland, Phase 1. These were:
Ballyconneely td (AR4A), a spread of burnt mound material;
Latoon South td (AR46), a prehistoric burial/ industrial(?) site;
Ballyconneely td (AR47), a large ditched enclosure;
Ballyconneely td (AR48), a spread of burnt material and high concentration of animal bone;
Ballygirreen td (AR49), a small circular enclosure, possibly a dwelling;
Ballyconneely td (AR50), a linear ditch;
Ballyconneely td (AR52), a possible wetland site;
Ballyconneely td (AR53), two adjoining fulachta fiadh;
Ballyconneely td (AR61-AR62), a linear arrangement of four fulachta fiadh;
Ballyconneely td (AR63), a fulacht fiadh.
Several other potential sites (AR55, 56, 57, 58 and 60) are awaiting investigation. As this project is ongoing, further details will be given in the future.
