Assessment of the site adjoining Cox's Lane showed that it has the potential to contain evidence of the medieval settlement of Carlow town. The site is within the urban zone of archaeological potential. In addition, the development is adjacent to a listed building, 'Evergreen Lodge'. Further archaeological work was recommended before any development.
