Monitoring of a housing development took place here. The site is next to a medieval (or perhaps earlier—there is a 19th-century reference to a souterrain and to cashel-style walls being present) church and graveyard. There are references to a church at Ballynure from the early 14th century. The site was later occupied by a mill dam.
Mechanical topsoil-stripping was monitored before development. No pre-19th-century features or finds were noted. However, the outline of the edge of the millpond was uncovered.
