Initial field survey along the line of a proposed aqueduct replacement revealed evidence of a linear setting of stones. As this feature lay within the scope of the cut for the aqueduct, a small test excavation (one trench measuring 3.5m x 1m) was carried out to identify the nature and extent of the feature. No further stones were found, but a very crude stone floor within the area confined by the stones suggested that it had functioned as a structure possibly associated with agricultural activity. Finds from the test excavation showed the feature to be late post-medieval in date.
