This archaeological testing took place on 8 July 1998. Three trenches were machine-excavated to undisturbed natural without encountering anything of archaeological significance.
The results suggest that the construction of the old house in 1896 removed any significant archaeology from the area. The ground to the north-east, currently grass covered, was once the site of an orchard. Severe tree-root disturbance exists in the area of the proposed development. Nonetheless, no significant archaeological deposits were noted. Modern layers lie on either till or sand.
Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered during the assessment.
