Archaeological assessment took place at McCurtain Street, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, in advance of the instalment of a new foul sewer pipe. One trench was excavated, and natural gravel was exposed at 0.5m below the surface. The existence of burials at 0.7m below gravel on the north of the street may suggest that some of this was redeposited. It was excavated to 1m without evidence of human remains, and the sewer trench was restricted to 0.6m deep.
