The removal of the western element of a pair of standing stones, on either side of a bank that marked the townland boundary, prompted a brief investigation.

A trench, 4m x 2m, was opened up to the west of the bank. The stone socket and a shallow ditch flanking the bank were uncovered, as was a pit, 1.6m in diameter and 0.5m deep, filled with sandy loam and stones. An extension of the trench 1m to the west revealed another similar pit, 1.6m in diameter and 0.6m deep, again containing a sandy loam fill and stones. These pits could represent stone sockets, indicating that the remaining stones were the remnants of a more extensive megalith.
