The upgrading of a forestry road as part of the development of the Ardfinnan Regional Water Supply Scheme affected a section of the linear earthwork known as the Rian Bó Phádraig, situated in Kildanoge Td, on the slopes of the Knockmealdown Mountains in County Tipperary. The trackway lay on the east side of the Glengalla River, close to a fording point. It was proposed to build a bridge across the river at that point to provide vehicular access to the west side. The section of the trackway affected by the development was excavated in 1997 before the start of the project (Excavations 1997, 162).Work on the embankment for the bridge began in January 1998, and the area on either side of the river was trenched. The trenches were cut through what appeared to be natural gravel deposits, and no archaeological features were noted during the work on the bridge.
