Pre-construction testing took place in advance of an extension to an existing landfill site to assess the nature of a linear feature identified during field inspection but not recorded on the Sites and Monuments Record. Three test-trenches were opened along and across the feature to determine whether it was an archaeological site.
There was no evidence found in the trenches to indicate that the linear feature was of archaeological origin. It was, in fact, a natural anomaly on the landscape.
