Archaeological testing on the site of a two-storey dwelling at Agar's Lane, Cashel, was carried out on 11 May 1998, in response to a condition of planning. Three 1m-wide test-trenches were mechanically excavated in the grounds of the old Community Hall.
Nothing of archaeological significance was revealed in any of the test-trenches. A cut feature found in Trench 1 may have been a plough furrow. A single sherd of post-medieval pottery from the fill suggested a late date.
The remains of a wall noted in Trench 2 may have dated to the building of the hall in 1842–3. The wall ran north-south for c. 4m, being 0.5m wide and terminating near the hall. Its fabric consisted of large, mortared stones with traces of red brick and roof slates. It may have been part of a previously unknown shed or outbuilding of the hall.
