This was a joint licence with Paul Logue, to facilitate the monitoring of topsoil-stripping along the full length of the Nenagh Bypass, from Carrigatogher to Clashnevin. Richard O'Brien also carried out some excavation under this licence.
In Benedin townland several pits were found and excavated. They varied in size from 0.2m diameter to 0.8m x 0.5m and had a maximum depth of 0.4m. They were filled with a mix of charcoal-rich soil and burnt, red clay, and almost all produced metal slag. Their proximity to No. 588 (Excavations 1998), in the same townland, and their similarity to the features excavated there suggest a possible Bronze Age date for these features.
