Monitoring of the N4–N6, 1km-long, Kinnegad Link Road was undertaken between 7 and 30 October 1998.
Monitoring in areas from within 60m of the Kinnegad River revealed a mixed layer of gravelly clay that sealed natural and was under topsoil. This has been interpreted as representing activity associated with river widening and diversion schemes undertaken within the last 150 years. In all other areas monitoring revealed topsoil sealing natural geology and failed to reveal the presence of either archaeological features or portable finds from within the development area.
