An archaeological assessment was carried out on this site in two phases-initiated by Avril Purcell in February and concluded by Edmond O'Donovan in May 1998. Fourteen test-trenches were opened.
The stratigraphy in the trenches was remarkably similar. Three or four layers were revealed including sod, topsoil, occasionally grey/brown clay and, at the base of each trench, sand and gravel. Undulations were apparent in the some of the deposits.
No features or finds of an archaeological nature were revealed.
