Pre-development testing was undertaken on the site of proposed developments at Terryduff, Bofeenaun, Crossmolina, Co. Mayo, in January 1998. The proposed development sites lie within the constraints of a burial mound and standing stone.
Following discussions with the National Monuments Service, it was agreed to relocate the proposed driveway and site entrance in development Site No. 2 away from the burial mound and standing stone. The new driveway and entrance is to be built to the east of the proposed house.
Six test-trenches were excavated within the boundaries of the proposed development sites. No archaeological features or small finds were recovered from any of the test-trenches.
