As part of the assessment of the ongoing Knock/ Claremorris Bypass archaeological testing was undertaken in the road corridor adjacent to an enclosure. The eastern (outer) edge of the levelled enclosure is 20m from the acquisition line of the proposed bypass.

The sod/topsoil layer, 0.7m thick, directly overlay a natural, orange boulder clay. A small spread of burnt soil and charcoal, measuring 1.5m x 1m and 30mm thick, was uncovered in the northern end of the area tested. No finds were recovered. A chert end-scraper was recovered from the topsoil adjacent to it.
