Pre-development testing was undertaken on the site of a proposed development of eight houses in High Street, Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo, in August 1998.
Six test-trenches, 12m x 2m and 15m x 2m, were excavated by machine. In general the sod/topsoil layer directly overlay a natural, light brown boulder clay. No archaeological features or finds were recovered from any of the trenches.
