A rescue investigation took place at Ahena, Co. Mayo, after the discovery of human remains during gravel quarrying. An enclosure, not recorded in the SMR, was uncovered 148m south of the burial site. The remains of nine individuals were recovered from the site. Orientation suggests Christian burial. One of the nearby fields is known as the ‘Coilean field’, which may be a corruption of Cillín.
