Archaeological assessment took place at Donaghy's Mill, Mill Lane, Drogheda, Co. Louth, in advance of a proposed residential/commercial development. The site lies outside the medieval walled town of Drogheda; however, there may have been suburban development in this area in that period.
Two trenches were excavated in the interior of the mill. Trench 1 was excavated in a north-south direction between the mill walls. It recovered north-south-running walls, which acted as foundations for roof supports. Orange boulder clay was encountered at 0.55m OD. Trench 2 revealed more roof supports cut into boulder clay but no other features of archaeological interest.
