A site on Mill Lane, Drogheda, Co. Louth, was excavated in advance of a proposed residential development on 7 January 1998. Mill Lane runs south towards the river from Trinity Street and was outside the medieval walled town.

Two trenches were excavated. Trench 1 was 9.2m long and 1.4m deep. A layer of brown clay and rubble was excavated to 0.3m, after which natural gravel was exposed. Trench 2 revealed the natural gravel at 0.3m. No archaeological features or objects were recovered.
