The site of the development of a private dwelling was c. 30m south of a ringfort. Owing to the close proximity of the monument, Dúchas The Heritage Service recommended that archaeological test-trenching be requested as a condition of any planning permission granted.
Four trenches were opened with a mechanical excavator. All revealed modern topsoil sealing a relict ploughsoil deposited over a natural, silty, gravel subsoil. No archaeological features or finds were recovered from the excavated area.
