Groundwork for the construction of a feed store/ shop on land at the northern end of the town of Askeaton was monitored between 17 December 1998 and 13 January 1999. The stripping of topsoil and the digging of foundation and service trenches revealed that the site was used for quarrying limestone until relatively recently and then restored with sand and gravel, redeposited boulder clay and topsoil. No archaeological features were noted.
