Testing took place on 28 April 1998. Three trenches were machine-excavated down to undisturbed natural, without encountering anything of archaeological significance. Bedrock was encountered at c. 47m OD, although it sloped down along the eastern edge of the site, where a small stream flows.
The results suggest that beneath the present grass-covered surface and associated turf line post-medieval layers lie either on till or directly on bedrock.
Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered during the assessment.
