An archaeological evaluation was undertaken at the rear of 18 Main Street, Leixlip, on 4 April 1998. The work was carried out in compliance with a planning condition in respect of a rear extension to existing commercial premises.
Three trenches were opened by machine. Similar stratigraphy to that uncovered by Clare Mullins (pers. comm.) in the adjoining development site (No. 321, Excavations 1998) was exposed.
No finds, structures or deposits of archaeological interest were uncovered, and it was decided that no further archaeological involvement was required at the site.
