The monument is a semicircular ditched enclosure: it may have originally continued across the road to form a full circle. Its maximum diameter is 200m, and the ditch is c. 4m deep. It is known to have been affected by gravel extraction.

A cutting 95m long and 1.5m wide was excavated in the area to be affected by road widening. Some traces of ridge-and-furrow cultivation were found in the enclosed area but no structural remains or finds. What appeared to be a fosse, 7.3m wide, was found at the outer edge of the enclosed area, but as this continued below the area to be affected by the road it was not investigated further. Beyond this, more directly in line with the visible fosse, was a possible further ditch, but this area had been the entrance to the gravel pit so it was not possible to be certain. No artefacts were found.
