Monitoring of topsoil-stripping before a housing development was carried out in March-April of 1998. Seven shallow pits were uncovered, cut into the yellow boulder clay. These were arranged in a linear fashion, separated by an average distance of 1m. These pits were truncated by agricultural activity, the upper fill being somewhat disturbed. Small fragments and flecks of cremated bone were recovered from the fill of five of these pits. These were too small to positively identify as being human (B. Ó Donnabháin, pers. comm.) Charcoal recovered from the upper fill of two of these pits was deemed to be unreliable for dating purposes, as it may have come from nearby modern bonfire remains, being dragged towards these pits in the course of ploughing. No associated structures were uncovered.
