Testing took place in the backyard of this property in advance of development on 29 November 1998. The test-trench was excavated to the depth of the foundations proposed in the planning application; however, the developer subsequently considered changing this application to include a basement, which would increase the area affected from 1m to 2.5m deep. As it was not safe to excavate the test-trench to the increased depth archaeological monitoring of the clearance was recommended. The adjacent property (No. 23) had put a basement in place in early spring of this year, and it showed entirely rubble infill deposits.
