One trench was excavated running south from Kevin Street Lower, parallel to Liberty Lane to the east. A ditch, uncovered running east-west at the very north of the trench, dates to the early medieval period, as suggested by the pottery recovered from its fill. This ditch is most likely to be the continuation of the previous ditch uncovered at the corner of Kevin Street Lower and Church Lane South (Excavations 1997, 46) and is therefore part of the town ditch that enclosed medieval Dublin.
Along the south of the trench, several large, deep pits were excavated. From the nature of the fill and the pottery recovered, it can be determined that these were post-medieval cesspits.
