Archaeological monitoring took place at a proposed redevelopment at the site of The Sisters of the Holy Faith Convent, The Coombe, Dublin 8. The site fronts onto the north side of The Coombe and is bounded on the west by Hanover Street West and on the north by a school fronting onto Mark's Alley West. The results of three previous stages of assessment and monitoring have been reported in Excavations 1997 (38–9).

Stage 4 monitoring of ground reduction and excavation of strip foundations in the area north and east of the convent building were undertaken over January-February 1998. This revealed 18th- and 19th-century domestic refuse and occasional red brick wall foundations and stone-lined drains.

No further archaeological requirements were applicable to the development after Stage 4 monitoring works.
