An archaeological assessment was carried out in advance of lodging a planning application. Two trenches were opened by mechanical digger on 7 November 1998. The stratigraphy was uniform across the site, consisting of late building rubble over a yellow/brown, pure clay. There was no evidence of any archaeological material or finds.
