An application to Cork County Council to construct a dwelling-house in the vicinity of a possible burial-ground at Mishells, Bandon, Co. Cork, led to archaeological conditions being imposed on the development. Three test-trenches were placed within the area of the proposed site to determine whether archaeological features or finds were present. The excavation of the trenches revealed no traces of archaeological deposits on the proposed house site, and there was no archaeological reason to prohibit the development.
