A site assessment, consisting of two test-trenches, was carried out on 21 March 1998. Two houses were demolished on the site in advance of the development. The trenches ran east-west across the site and were found to contain rubble fill dating to the 19th and 20th centuries. No finds or features of archaeological significance were noted.
