The site lies on the south island of Cork within the Beamish and Crawford brewery. The excavation consisted of two test-trenches, 1m wide and 17m long, excavated in advance of development works in the south-west area of the brewery grounds. The area was found to have been extensively disturbed by drainage works carried out in the 1970s, and there were no traces of archaeological remains at a depth of 0.5–0.6m below present ground level.
