Two test-trenches were excavated at the rear of this site, which is earmarked for a private retail development. In both trenches large-scale post-medieval intrusions were noted. In one trench was a large hole, backfilled with loose stone, interpreted as a drain. In the other trench was a rectangular, brick-lined pit that cut an earlier pit with a grey clay/silt fill from which two sherds of brownware and a fragment of green bottle glass were recovered. No features of medieval or earlier date were noted.
