A final stage of monitoring at the site of the N3 Belturbet to Aghalane Road Realignment Scheme was undertaken in January 1998. Areas within farmland were topsoil-stripped immediately east and south-east of the proposed Staghall junction, to permit the construction of link roads for the new junction. The topsoil was cleared to an average depth of 0.3m, revealing undisturbed subsoil. No deposits, features or finds of archaeological significance were revealed during these works, and there are no further archaeological requirements for the development.
