The pre-development testing occurred in a field opposite a graveyard and site of a medieval church. The site of the proposed development was only 8m to the west of the western boundary of the graveyard. The Old Ross–Wexford road extends in a north–south direction between the site and the graveyard.
Test-trenches were opened in advance of construction works. No archaeological remains were encountered during pre-development testing.
