The site was noted during the excavation of a square trench, measuring 7.3m by 7m and 0.4–0.9m in depth, for the installation of a noise and vibration monitoring station, part of the Lisheen Mine.
The site was established to be a linear drove-type road of post-medieval date, orientated north-east/south-west, measuring over 30m in length, over 7m in width and 0.55m in depth, within a shallow cut. The road was partly revealed in section as a deposit of brown sandy clay 0.24m in depth, over yellowish-brown sandy clay with small stones containing early post-medieval brick 0.3m in depth, within a shallow concave cut, partly burnt, lined with larger cobbles.
The line of the feature was traced eastwards for 10m in the section of a service trench for the monitoring station. It was noted that the road does not appear on the 1st edition OS 6" map (No. 36) and the field boundaries shown do not respect the line of the road. No further excavation was carried out on the site.
