Several features were revealed during soil-stripping operations for the TMF construction road over an area measuring 106m in length by 10m wide, at the western edge of Derryville Bog. The site consisted of three regular, shallow, dark silty clay-filled field drains of uncertain date, leading up to and beyond the Bord na Móna drainage dyke that defined the present-day bog. Three other ephemeral burnt spreads were noted. One burnt spread, measuring 0.6m in length and 0.3m in depth, close to the northernmost ditch, produced a waste flake of pebble flint. No other features were noted in the vicinity.
