This was a small sparse scatter of roundwood measuring 7.5m east–west by 3m north–south and dating from 1385–930 BC. Although almost all of the wood uncovered showed signs of working, there was no real sign of a structure. A flagstone was removed during drain-clearing but no further evidence of substantial stone was found. Most of the wood was truncated by the drain and it is likely that any real structural evidence was removed by Bord na Móna draining.
This site would have been very close to the contemporary fen edge. It was underlain in both cuttings by natural silting and erosion deposits due to the development of a discharge channel in the fen. It represents a short episode of working on a wet and unstable surface. The wood and stone present could be a result of the work or the remains of an attempt to clear and stabilise the area to facilitate access.
