DER305 was revealed during the excavation of a large cutting at the west end of DER18 (Excavations 1997, No. 506). This site was located 10m south-west of the western terminus of DER18, running south-south-east and dated to 1436–1310 cal. BC (UB-4187). It was a collection of scrappy brushwood deposits laid to form an irregular and incomplete pathway for c. 10.5m in length, 6.8m in width and 0.18m deep. This structure represented a trackway of very poor and temporary construction. The presence of identical axemark signatures suggests that it was contemporary with DER18, possibly related to the branching of Phase 2, representing attempts to ford the discharge channel at a dryer spot.
