Nothing of archaeological significance was noted in either of the two test-trenches examined. The results were similar to those uncovered elsewhere in the vicinity, particularly along Rockwood Parade to the west (Excavations 1993, 72–3, 93E0118 and 93E0162). Up to 1.5m of 18th- and 19th-century material rested directly on riverine muds and silts. These in turn lay on waterworn bedrock. The upper 0.5m of the exposed sections consisted of red brick rubble and hard-core.
