Monitoring of a development area for a proposed slatted shed was requested as a planning condition by Sligo County Council. The site is on a north-facing area of the most easterly limestone ridges that form the Bricklieve Mountains.
Contiguous areas measuring 50m by 12m, 13m by 6–7m and 26m by 8–10m, as well as other areas (a total of about 1000m2), were opened by machine. Digging took place to a depth of 0.7m along the west side and progressively less out to 0.3m along the east side. Underlying the 50mm-thick sod was a yellow/brown boulder clay. Beneath this again was the underlying rotting limestone bedrock. There were no features or finds save one modern horseshoe, part of one clay pipe and a few fragments of 20th-century plates and cups.
