Road construction activity on the Curlew Bypass Project uncovered a spread of heat-fractured stones. Excavations produced evidence of two roughly circular troughs cut into the subsoil, in association with spreads of burnt sandstone. No evidence of hearths or domestic activity was uncovered, probably owing to truncation. The location of the site and the features uncovered fit within the tradition of fulacht fiadh activity.
Editor’s note: This excavation, though carried out in 1995, was not reported on in time for inclusion in the bulletin for that year.
